Let's Celebrate 

Over the River and Thru the woods 

I know its winter outside, but would someone please tell the weatherman to act right.  It's like 70 and its February.  I went ahead and painted a winter scene (I started it a few weeks ago), but

it's just plain balmy out.  It doesn't feel right. 

This was an order.

Look at that man warming his hands, I hope he doesn't fall into the fire! 

The frame is so very cool.  It came from the Amish.  Here this 80 year old man named Rufus seems to enjoy cutting barns down and recycling the wood.  He even signs some of his frames.  This frame came with a back that had a name written in ballpoint ink, maybe it's the barn this wood came from. 

Is this Grandma? 

I am trying to keep things light, happy, and bright.  This is a winter scene that is about celebrating.  Maybe I feel like being happy because I had some surgery in December and it went well and is all behind me.  I started this right after coming home from the hospital.  What fun. not. but I am thankful.

I don't know if that is grandma, but that is ME down there holding the pumpkin. 

This painting is sort of Grandma Moses like.  There's that word again...grandma. As you can see, I am into polka dots at the moment.  

This gives you an idea of the scale.  Do you like that Cabinet?  That was my dear sweet mother's!

Trick or Treat 

This is a good example of a painting that I decided to change.  I mean, I really changed this one.  Everything about it is new...almost.  I am not a huge halloween fan, but it is fun for children and some adults, too, that know how to have a good time.  I didn't want this to be too spooky.  I think I pulled that part off...it's just sweet.

Where's Batman? Look**at pumpkin boy. 

I love it when my paintings ask questions.  This is one of those pieces.  I don't know if I should call it, Trick or Treat or Where's Batman?  I guess I will let you decide.

I like the spots of light illuminating this painting.  There's also an eerie night feel to it, which is what I was striving for. 

I sort of like it in this frame because it ties into my silhouettes, which I am thinking of taking along to Wilton, Ct.  It is going to be FUN. 

Also, I decided to change the subject matter of this because, overtime as I looked at it, I kept thinking EGGS.  This painting has to be about the eggs.  I grew up in a neighborhood with about 25 kids.  The boys down the block always threw eggs at us on halloween.  I know you don't approve. They did get in trouble! haha.   Today, I laugh, yesterday I cried (on the inside.) LOL

There's so much detail in this piece, from the dentals to the tree branches.  LOOK at the bricks.  There's a good bit of work in this one! 

Sometimes, you just have to put it on the floor and stand back...NOW you have the feel of it.  Don't forget to look for batman! 

I hope that your October and November and December are so very special.

They all celebrate!

The background photographed much brighter than it should have but I wanted you to see the rich colors of the painting, itself!  

This painting is a little brighter than I usually paint!  I am trying to add a little more 'PUNCH' to the canvas, as they say.   I don't know who said that, but you get the idea.  

This is a little more shaded than the original.  The colors are more like Picture Lettered (B) below. 

This painting was shipped this afternoon to Nantucket Country, 38 Centre Street, Nantucket MASS.  She should have it in a few days, but if you want it, you should call her.  It won't stay long.   It is painted on masonite board and has a flat varnished finish.  The colors are very vibrant and the picture is full of action and imagination.  Things I love about this are the branches that have lost their leaves.  This detail catches my eye. I also like the plaid cloth laying on the Trestle styled table.    I like how the trees come together at the top as if they are clapping and rejoicing.  My favorite mermaid is the one on the far left.

(A)

The lady pilgrim is very funny because she is actually a mermaid. Look under the table.   She is looking lovingly at the Indian to the far left of the canvas.  In fact, I think all the mermaids are stuck on the Indians.

(B)

Look how sweet the mermaid is positioned underneath the right tree (above Letter (B)).  If you take a closer look, you will see her heart carved in the tree.   The girl to the left of the sitting Indian looks really put off by her outfit.  I think it's all funny, though.  Let's all laugh.

(C)

I love this shot and the mermaid standing beside the pumpkin pie, she's thinking, I could roll this across the table.  I had to paint it that way, though, because number 1, it's funny.  Number 2, I wanted to be certain that it was obvious that it was a pumpkin pie.

(D)

Lastly, There is the Mayflower.  We had to have that in the picture, for sure!  I hope you enjoy this painting.  I am getting ready to post another THANKSGIVING MERMAID PAINTING.  Watch for it in a few moments.  I am posting it today.  I painted these both literally side by side.  :)
